Kenjiro - Part 4

Leo She's running a little late this morning.

Reno I see. (Leo steps back and Reno enters. He shuts the door.)

Leo Sit down. She'll be ready in a few minutes.

Reno Ok. (He sits in a chair.)

Leo Would you like some coffee?

Reno I...

Leo Jayme made it.

Reno Sure. (Leo nods and walks around a wet bar. He takes three mugs and pours coffee in them.)

Leo How do you take your coffee?

Reno Black.

Leo Ok. (He walks back around with the three mugs. He walks over and gives one to Reno. He keeps one himself and places one on a table. Jayme enters a few minutes later fully dressed. She grabs the mug and takes a sip.)
Leo I'm going to get dressed. (He walks by Jayme and she gives him a quick kiss. He exits.)

Jayme What have you got?

Reno Only that it's supposed to be in tomorrow.

Jayme That's what I got. They said that the man shipping it in is named

Kenjiro. He's Boryokudan. Seems he was deported about four

years ago but when he left he took an American wife with him.

Reno Oh?
Jayme Yeah. They left with an infant and nobody's heard from him since. Nor his wife and child.

Reno Now he's gone public?
Jayme Apparently. (The phone rings once. Leo enters.) You? (He shakes his head.) I'll be right back. (She exits. A few minutes later she enters and they look at her.)

Reno Everything ok?
Jayme Yeah. Look, I have to be somewhere so would you mind if I meet

up with you at Leo's?

Reno Well...I guess so. Does this have something to do with this case?

Jayme No. This is just a simple background check.

Reno Ok. Around eight?
Jayme Ok. (Reno stands and exits.)

Leo So why didn't you tell him you were looking into him?
Jayme I don't know. Maybe I wanted to see what's there.

Leo And if it's not good?
Jayme I'll cross that bridge when I have to.

Leo Or burn it.

Jayme Yeah. (They kiss and exit. Act 19 Scene 4 A small room. Enter Jayme. She turns on the light and sees a table with three folders on it. She closes and locks the door. She walks over to the table and sits down. She takes a file and opens it. She reads the name.) Well Kenjiro what will your file tell me. (She begins to read. Act 19 Scene 5 Later in the room. She closes the last file and stands. She exits. Act 20 Scene 1 Mark's home. Mark opens the door and Reno is there. Mark steps back and Reno enters. Mark closes the door.)

Reno It's been a while.

Mark Yeah. Four years. I've been busy.

Reno So I've heard. Congratulations.

Mark On?
Reno Your last two movies.

Mark Thanks. You still catching the bad guys?
Reno Trying. Rumor is that Kenjiro is back in business. Where's

Julie?
Mark In Canada. Did you get over her?

Reno Who?
Mark Jessie. You were in love with her.

Reno I got over her when she left.

Mark Good. (Reno looks at his watch)

Reno I have to go. I have to meet someone.

Mark Is she nice? Who gave you the shiner?

Reno I don't know her well enough to say. (He looks embarassed.)

She's the one who gave me the shiner.

Mark Made that good of first impresion?
Reno I met her in a barroom brawl.

Mark Said something you shouldn't have?
Reno No. Some guy got out of line and her boyfriend hit him.

Mark I see. And being the gentleman you are you decided to

step in and help?
Reno Sort of. Did she stay in touch with you? (Reno looks over Mark's shoulder and catches a glimpse of Jessie.)

Mark Yes.

Reno Where did you say Julie was?

Mark               She's in Canada. Why?
Reno               Just curious. Everything ok with you two?
Mark               Yeah. Why?
Reno               Just curious. How's Jessie's marriage?

Mark As strong as mine and Julie's.

Reno Oh. (He turns and opens the door. He exits. Jessie enters and Mark looks at her. She has her head bowed.)

Jessie He had no right to ask you to do this.

Mark Julie and I don't mind. Besides who better to take care of you?

Jessie But he did not know that we are going to have another child.

(He looks at her.) I found out before I left.

Mark You realize that you may end up raising both by yourself.

Jessie Kenjiro is alive. I can feel him here. (She places her hand over heart.) If he was not I would feel empty.

Mark Ok. (The phone rings and Mark answers it.) Hello? (P) Hi. (P)

Yes. She's here. (P) There's a new wrinkle. (P) She's pregnant. (P)

No he doesn't. But it's more important now. (P) I'll tell her.(P) I love

you. (He hangs up and looks at Jessie.)

Jessie                        How is Julie?
Mark               She's fine. She said to tell you that now you are even. For what?
Jessie                        I did her a favor and now I ahve asked for a favor in return. This

has given her a chance to repay the favor.

Mark What did you do for Julie?
Jessie Girl stuff.

Mark Ok.

Jessie But...

Mark Julie's up there staying with a friend while she finishes a movie. I

have to go out for a while. Will you be alright?
Jessie Yes. (He smiles and exits. She locks the door and exits. Act 20 Scene 2 An apartment. Enter Jayme. She knocks on the door and Jack opens it. She enters and he closes the door. Act 20 Scene 3 That night at the bar. Enter Reno. He walks over and sits on a stool. Leo walks over and puts a beer in front of him.)

Reno Thanks. Where's Jayme? She told me to meet her here.

Leo She's in the ladies room.

Reno At least she's not late.

Leo No. (Jayme walks up.) Hi.

Jayme Hi. The usual. (Leo nods and walks away. He returns a few minutes later and places a tall glass in front of her. Reno looks at him.)
Long Island Iced Tea.

Reno Oh. What's the word?

Jayme The 'Iceman' cometh.

Reno Oh?
Jayme Word is the shipment is in and waiting for the right buyer.

Reno So I guess we should set up a buy.

Jayme Yeah. (She looks at Reno.) Tell me about Jessie. (He looks shocked) I know that you and her were close.

Reno We were partners.

Jayme Until Kenjiro kidnapped her.

Reno Yeah. But I brought her back.

Jayme With a civilian's help. Mark Dacascos wasn't it?

Reno Yeah. (He looks at her.) You know Mark?

Jayme Never met him. I've seen a few of movies. You left the

force and went to work for Bobby Sixkiller.

Reno For a while.

Jayme You met Mark then and rescued Jessie. Then the strange

murder case that you solved. You stayed on the force after

arresting Kenjiro's half sister but watched as Jessie left with

Kenjiro.

Reno The biggest mistake she ever made.

Jayme Not to her. She fell in love.

Reno She only thinks she loves him. (He sounds bitter.)

Jayme And you're in love with her. Has she contacted you?
Reno No. I've never contacted her. It was a mutual agreement.

Jayme So...

Reno She's stayed in touch with Mark and his wife.

Jayme I see. Maybe she told...

Reno I already checked with him.

Jayme Oh. Ok. (She takes a drink. The man from the brawl walks up and she looks at him.) Hi Charlie.

Charlie Hi. I want to apologize for the other night.

Jayme Don't sweat it. (They smile.) Everything's cool. (H frowns) Reno,

would you excuse us?
Reno Sure. (He picks up his beer and stands. He walks over to a table. He watches as Jayme takes Charlie's hand and they have an intense conversation. A few minutes later Jayme smiles as Charlie exits and Reno walks back.)

Jayme I'll set up the buy.

Reno Ok. (He puts his glass down and his hand accidently brushes hers. He walks away and Leo walks over. He looks at Jayme and she has tears in her eyes. He motions to Charlie and they help her up. They exit into the office and sit her in a chair. Charlie exits.)

Leo Tell me. Just as you see it.

Jayme Lots of anger. Bad feelings. Lots of blood. Too much blood. A

man face down.

Leo And?
Jayme He's laughing.

Leo Who is?
Jayme The man face down. 'Fooled you again'. (She shakes her head and looks at Leo.) It's the same man.

Leo He died twice?

Jayme He's not dead but he's connected to Reno. (She frowns.) I wish I

could see his face. He's important in some way to this case. (She looks at Leo then at the clock.) I have to go. I'll meet you at home. Ok?

Leo Ok. (She stands and Leo takes her hand.) Be careful.

Jayme I will. (They kiss and she exits. Act 20 Scene 4 The apartment. Michael, Steven, and Jack are there.)

Michael Did you check her out?
Jack I did. She's uptown. Her family is Evans LTD.

Steven Evans?
Jack Yeah.

Michael So when she say she can take all we have she's serious?

Jack She can buy city blocks if she wants.

Michael Oh. (Jack smiles.) What?
Jack She said that she'd get in touch with me.

Michael Ok. (Jack's pager goes off. He looks at it. He picks up the phone and dials.)

Jack Yeah. (P) Ok. (P) When? (P) Sure. (P) Right here. (P) I have it. (P)

I'll have it. (P) In an hour. ( He hangs up.) Miss Evans will be here

in an hour.

Steven So now we get ready. (Act 20 Scene 5 A house . A man enters. He checks on the man laying in the bed.)

Man You realize that you are very lucky.

Kenjiro Yes. And I will continue to be as long as they believe I have died.

Man No one here will tell. (Kenjiro smiles and nods. ) The arrangements

have been made.

Kenjiro And the other? (The man hands him an envelope which he opens. He takes out some papers. He reads them then puts them back. ) Now I know

my enemy. (The other man nods. Act 21 Scene 1 Mark's home. Enter Mark. He doesn't see Jessie. He goes to the bedroom. He knocks on the door and Jessie opens it. She's looking at the floor.)

Mark Is everything alright?
Jessie Yes. Thank you.

Mark Jessie, you're frustrating me.

Jessie I'm sorry. I will pack my things.

Mark No. I'm married and that's not it.

Jessie My husband had no right to ask you to put yourself in danger.

Mark Jessie, look I'm...Jessie you an American but you act more

Asian than most Asian women. Look at me! (She barely lifts her eyes.) I feel that this is my way to pay back my....

Jessie That wasn't your fault. If you hadn't done that he would have.

Mark That doesn't make it anymore right. In the morning I need you

to come with me. (She looks at the floor.)

Jessie Yes Mark.

Mark I'll see you around seven. Ok?

Jessie Ok. (He turns and walks away. She closes the door. Act 21 Scene 2 The next day. Outside the apartment building. Jayme and Reno walk up.)

Reno You're sure that is going to work?
Jayme Yeah. Just be Clint Eastwood.

Reno What?
Jayme Strong and silent. Don't say a word.

Reno And just who am I supposed to be?

Jayme You work for me. When we get a sample you test it. If it's good

we got a bust.

Reno Ok. (They enter the apartment building and walk up some stairs. Jayme walks up to the door and starts to knocks. She freezes. She shivers and backs away. Reno looks at her.) What is it?
Jayme Call for back up and the ME.

Reno What? Why?
Jayme Trust me. Do it. (Reno takes out a cell phone and dials. Act 21 Scene 3 Later at the apartment. Jayme and Reno are there. Enter the Captain. He walks over to the body and lifts the sheet. He drops it again and walks over to Jayme and Reno.)

Davis What happened?
Jayme He was DOA.

Davis Any witnesses as to what happened?
Reno Nobody heard anything or saw anything.

Jayme The door was locked. There is only one way in and out. There are

no secret passage ways.

Davis So how did his killer get out?
Jayme He...

Reno He snapped his fingers and left in a puff of smoke.

Davis So we're looking for Houdini?

Jayme We're looking for a man who left by the door. The man didn't

disappear. He walked out the door and locked it behind him. With

the keys and then got rid of them. My guess is that you'll find them

in the nearest dumpster.

Davis So this was drug deal gone bad?
Jayme Maybe. (She looks around. ) Excuse me. (She exits. She enters the bedroom and looks around. She walks to the phone. She places her hand on it and closes her eyes. She 'sees' Steven and Michael sitting in the livingroom. Jack is on the phone. He's talking then hangs up.)

Jack That was Danny.He's sending a guy over.

Michael For what?

Jack He's interested in making a buy.

Steven What about Jayme?

Jack He doesn't want ice.He wants some of the other.

Michael Ok. We'll get out of here but you'll cal when he's gone. Right?

Jack Yeah. He won't take over ten minutes.

Steven Ok. (They stand and exit. A few minutes later someone knocks on the door. Jack opens the door and stares.)

Jack You? It can't be. (Suddenly he crumples to the floor. He tries to crawl away as the man enters. He has his lower face cover so that only his eyes can be seen. The eyes are dark and flashing with hate. He smiles and begins to use a sword. Jayme opens her eyes and has tears on her cheks. Reno enters and she looks at him.)

Reno Are you ok?
Jayme Yes. (A man is behind him.) Roy, what's the prelim?

Roy Death was prolonged. Whoever did this knew where to

cut to cause pain and suffering. (He shudders) By the

time he died he was begging to be killed. The perp

definately enjoyed his work.

Reno So we're looking for a sadist?

Roy Yeah. I'm going to take the body.

Reno Ok. Let us know when you get an ID on him.

Jayme His name is Jack Pierce. He works for Michael Cragmont. (They look at her.) I made contact and set up a meeting for ice.

Reno Great. We're back to square one.

Jayme Not necessarily.

Reno Really? (She nods.) How...

Jayme Let's just say I have friends in low places. (She exits. Act 21 Scene 4 Leo's bar. Enter Kenjiro. Leo looks at him. Kenjiro walks over and sits at a table. Leo walks over and Kenjiro looks at him.)

Leo Hello. What may I get you?
Kenjiro I would like a glass of water.

Leo Coming right up. (He walks over to the bar and fills a glass. He brings it back and places it in front of him. Kenjiro pours some powder in it.)

I'm Leo.

Kenjiro            This is your place?
Leo                 Yes. (He sees Kenjiro's ring.) You're married?
Kenjiro            Yes. Are you?
Leo                 No. I do have a lady.

Kenjiro She is at home?
Leo No. She's working.

Kenjiro She should be home waiting your return so that she may

serve you.

Leo I can't picture Jayme serving anyone. She's independent. (Kenjiro looks at him.)

Kenjiro You are different.

Leo So I've been told. When I met Jayme I found my soulmate.

Kenjiro She is like you? She can see?

Leo See?

Kenjiro She sees things that have happened or will happen. Just like you. (A customer enters. Leo looks over. He looks at Kenjiro and smiles.)

Leo Yes. I have to get to work. (He stands)

Kenjiro You should insist that she serve you. (Leo exits. Kenjiro finishes his water and lays down some money. He exits. Act 21 Scene 5 A small house. Enter Mark and Jessie. They walk up and knock on the door. A woman opens it and they enter. Act 22 Scene 1 Later Mark and Jessie enter. Mark looks at her.)
Mark Nobody will recognize you.

Jessie I don't recognize myself.

Mark Ok. We have the ultimate test.

Jessie What's that? (She is looking down.)

Mark Who knows you best? Besides your husband.
Jessie No one.

Mark Reno does. Remember?

Jessie Yes. But...

Mark If he doesn't recognize you then we know that you'll be safe.

Jessie But...

Mark You husband told you to do whatever I tell you to do and to follow

my lead. We need this. (She looks at him.)

Jessie I don't understand. (He smiles.)

Mark At least you're acting more American. (She lowers her face.)

Jessie, you have to be American. (She looks up.) Didn't you

and Kenjiro have pictures?

Jessie Yes. (She gets a look of comprehension.) So you think those men know what I look like?

Mark Yes. that's why if you can fool Reno then they won't be a problem.

Jessie Ok. (They exit. Act 22 Scene 2 Leo and Jayme's place. Enter Jayme. She turns to close the door and Leo is there. They smile and kiss. He enters and she closes the door.)
Jayme Just getting home?

Leo Yeah. I stopped by the bar.

Jayme Something wrong?

Leo Just checking. Charlie was there. I got a very strong feeling

about him.

Jayme Was there something wrong?
Leo He'd had a fight but he's ok.

Jayme Good. (She smiles at him.) Let's go out.

Leo Ok. (They exit. act 22 Scene 3 A small restaurant. Enter Mark and Jessie. They sit in a booth. A waitress walks over to them.)

Waitress Hello.

Mark Hi. (He smiles at her as she hands him two menus.) Thank you.

Waitress Would you like something to drink?

Mark Water. (She looks at Jessie.)

Jessie Water is fine. (She nods and exits.) So now that I'm a red head

with a New York accent...

Mark Reno comes in here about twice a week.

Jessie And you think he'll be here tonight?

Mark Yes. I do. Once this is over you don't have to come out again.

Jessie Ok. (The waitress returns with two glasses of water. She places one in front of Mark and the other in front of Jessie.)

Waitress Are you two about ready to order?

Mark I am. (He smiles at Jessie and she smiles back. Act 22 Scene 4 Later at the restaurant. Mark and Jessie are just finishing eating when Reno enters. Jessie sees him. Mark follows her gaze then looks at her.) Final exam.

Jessie Yes. (Reno sees them. He walks over. Mark looks up at him and smiles.)

Mark Hello Reno. (He stands and they shake hands.) How are you?

Reno I'm fine. How are you?
Mark I'm fine. (Reno looks at Jessie.) Reno Raines, this is Chelsea

Bennet. She's a friend of Julie's.

Reno Hello Miss Bennet. (He holds out his hand and Jessie takes it. They shake.)

Jessie Hello Mr. Raines.

Mark Would you like to join us?
Reno Ok. (He sits next to Jessie. He looks at her. She smiles at him.)

Have we met before?

Jessie No. I don't think so.

Reno I feel like I know you.

Jessie Well maybe in a previous life. (Reno looks at Mark.)

Mark               What?
Reno               Where's Jessie?
Mark               With her husband.

Reno I saw her at your place a couple of days ago. If she's with

Kenjiro does that mean he was there?
Mark No. She came here to check on something and then left. As

far as Kenjiro is concerned he couldn't be here. He was

deported as an undesirable. Remember?
Reno I remember. But..

Mark               How could he be back?
Reno               So Jessie's not here?
Mark               No. She left.

Reno So what did she have to take care of?
Mark I really don't know. It was between her and Julie.

Reno Oh. I didn't think that monster would let her out of his

sight. (Jessie doesn't respond.)

Mark Well he does love her and she loves him.

Reno He beat her into submission then he forced himself on her. (He looks at Mark.) He raped her repeatedly and the way I see it that's not a good

basis for a marriage.

Mark He did change. She fell in loe with him and as far as I know she's

very happy.

Reno Or at least pretends to be. (Reno looks at his watch. Mark catches movement from Jessie.)
Mark We'd better get going. Chelsea has a lot to do before she has to

leave. (They all stand) If I hear anything I'll let you know.

Reno Thanks. (He looks at Jessie.) It was nice to meet you Chelsea.

Jessie It was nice to meet you Mr. Raines. (They exit as Reno watches. They enter outside the restaurant.) That...He has no right! It's my life! I love my

husband.

Mark Let's go before he decides to come out.

Jessie How could he say those things about Kenjiro? (Mark looks at her.)

Yes I know they're true. I haven't forgotten anything.

Mark He was baiting you. Kenjiro would be proud of you. (They get into the car and drive away. Reno enters and watches.)

Reno Well Miss Bennet. I wonder who you really are and what

your connections to Mark is. (He exits. Act 22 Scene 5 Mark's home. Enter Mark and Jessie. Mark picks up an envelope. He recognizes Reno's handwriting. He opens it and begins to read. Jessie watches him.)

Jessie Mark, what is it? (His eyes are blazing as he looks at her.)

Mark Kenjiro is importing drugs.

Jessie No.

Mark According to Reno they know he's the one.

Jessie Kenjiro sent me away because three men came to our

home. They said that they had been told he was the one to see.

Someone is trying to drag him back into his old ways. He

wouldn't. We had heard that you were there working on a film

but I did not know he was going to ask you to bring me here. (She has tears in her eyes.) He sent me away so that he could fight them.

Mark And Kenny?
Jessie He was sent away. Kenjiro loves me and he wants to protect me.

Mark, if I thought he was involved I wouldn't be here. I

wouldn't put you in the middle of this.

Mark You're still working with your instincts?
Jessie Yes. (He nods. Someone knocks on the door. She looks at Mark. He nods and she exits. Mark hears the door shut and opens the front door. Jayme's there. She smiles at Mark.)

Mark May I help you?
Jayme Mark Dacascos?

Mark Yes. (She takes out her badge.)

Jayme My name's Jayme Evans. I would like to ask you a few

questions. (She holds out her hand. They shake. Suddenly she 'sees' Mark and Kenjiro. She sees the first fight with Kenjiro then the second one. She 'sees' them at the airport then Mark and Jessie boarding a plane. She 'sees' Mark with a redhead. She shivers as he drops her hand and she looks at him. He's frowning.)

Mark Are you alright?
Jayme I...(She's staring at him. He steps back.)

Mark Please come in and I'll try to answer your questions. (She steps forward and enters. He closes the door.)

Jayme You killed a man you thought was Kenjiro.(Mark stares.) He took

his place and you have alot of guilt. You beat him and sent him to

jail then he was deported. He has asked you to take care of

Jessie.

Mark What?

Jayme You saw him before you left.You know alot more than you're

telling.

Mark What?
Jayme You know why Kenjiro sent Jessie with you. You saw him before

you left to come home. (She looks around.) Where is Jessie? Why

is she hiding as a redhead?
Mark I don't know what you're talking about.

Jayme I saw you and Kenjiro at the airport. You left with Jessie and he

didn't.

Jayme I could arrest you for being an accessory. (Enter Jessie.)

Jessie No. Mark's protecting me.

Jayme Jessie?

Jessie Yes. Kenjiro sent me away because someone is trying to drag

him back into his old life. By sending his family away he could

refuse and they wouldn't be able to threaten to kill his family.

Jayme So Mark brought you here?
Mark Only no one can know that she is here. No one.

Jayme Not even Reno?
Mark Not even Reno. (He looks at Jessie. He's pale.)

Jessie She has the gift.

Jayme Have you seen Reno?
Mark Earlier. He didn't seem to know her.

Jayme I see. So let's all sit down and discuss this. (They enter a room Act 23 Scene 1 Steven's apartment. Enter Steven. He opens the door.)

Steven It's about time. It's been...(He stares at a man. The man is dressed in all black with his lower face covered. All that can be seen is dark flashing eyes. The eyes show hate and loathing.)

Man How dare you?

Steven What? (Suddenly he crumples to the floor. He stares at him. Act 23 Scene 2 Mark's home. Mark and Jessie are sitting on the couch an jayme is in a chair.)
Jayme Let me get this straight. Jack Pierce, Michael Cragmont and

another man came to your home and gave your husband forty-

eight hours, at his request, to supply them with ice.

Jessie Yes but he was going to find out who was really behind it. (Jayme's pager goes off. She looks at it.)

Jayme Would you mind if I use your phone?
Mark No. It's in the hall. (They stand and exit. Suddenly a man enter and Jessie looks at him. She stands and lowers her head. She goes to him and they kiss)

Jessie My husband. What are you doing here?

Kenjiro I have found out my enemy. I am here to stop this.

Jessie But...(They hear Mark and Jayme.) You'd better go my

husband.

Kenjiro Be careful. Trust only Mark. (He takes her in his arms and they kiss. He exits. Jayme and Mark enter. Jayme looks at Jessie.)

Jayme I promise I will not tell Reno.

Jessie Thank you. (Jayme exits. They hear the door close. Jessie looks at Mark) He was here.

Mark Who?

Jessie My husband. I just saw him. He told me not to trust anyone

but you and to be careful.

Mark Why is he here?
Jessie He knows who is behind this.

Mark Did he tell you?
Jessie No. (Mark looks around and they exit. Act 23 Scene 3 The station. Reno is at a computer. He types in a few words then pushes enter. He waits a few minutes then begins to read. He exits the screen. The Captain walks over.)

Reno What's up Captain?
Davis We just received word one Steven Carlson was just found.

Reno Oh?

Davis Yeah. It seems that he works for Michael Cragmont.

Reno So let's go talk to him.

Davis If you want answers you'll have to hold a seance. He was

found in the same condition as Jack Pierce.

Reno Great. (The phone rings and Reno answers it. ) Raines. (P) I

just heard. (P) Ok. (P) I'' meet you. (P) When? (P)Ok. (P) I'll

be there. (He hangs up.) I might have a lead. (He stands and exits. Act 23 Scene 4 The bar. Enter Reno. Leo is behind the bar and he's busy. Reno walks over to him. He looks up.)

Leo Hi Reno.

Reno Where's Jayme?

Leo I haven't seen her.

Reno When you do tell her I think I have a lead.

Leo Ok.

Reno Mind if I get a glass of water?
Leo Go ahead. (He fills a glass and hands it to him. Reno drinks it then hands it to Leo and exits. Leo sudenly 'sees' Reno and Michael together. They shake hands and smile. He 'sees' them going to Mark's home and grabbing a girl. He thinks it's Jayme as they force her to go with them. He shakes his head and grabs the phone. He dials and listens then hangs up. Charlie enters.) I have

to go out for a little while.

Charlie Sure. (He smiles and Leo exits. Act 23 Scene 5 Mark's home. Jessie walks out of the guest room. Mark is on the phone.)

Mark I will. (He smiles at her and exits. She locks the door and exits. Act 24 Scene 1 Later. Jessie is sitting in the livingroom. She's grabbed from behind by Michael.)

Michael Hello Jessie.

Jessie What do you want?
Michael You. (Reno enter and she stares)

Jessie Why?

Reno Jessie. We need you com with us.

Jessie No.

Reno I'm afraid that I have to insist. (He grabs an arm and Michael grabs her other one. Leo enter and stops. Reno looks at him.)

Leo                 Let her go. (He strikes out and catches Reno's jaw. Reno kicks out and leo falls. He hits his head and is knocked unconscious. Reno and Michael force Jessie out of the house. Reno handcuffs her hands behind her.)
Michael            This is going to work?
Reno               Oh yes. We have something he holds precious. He'll

co-operate. (They put her in the car and drive away. Kenjiro entrs a few minutes later. He walks into the livingroom and sees Leo. He kneels beside him and feels for a pulse. He finds one. He looks around as Mark and Jayme enter. Jayme sees Kenjiro kneeling beside Leo. He looks up and she stares into his eyes. She shivers. She pulls a gun and points it at him. He looks at her then at Mark.)

Jayme Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you.

Kenjiro I did not do this.

Mark Where is Jessie?
Kenjiro She is not here. When I arrived I found him like this.

Jayme Sure you did. (Mark looks at her.)

Mark He is telling the truth. In his culture you do not go

into a man's home that you respect and harm anyone

in it.

Jayme He's the one behind the ice coming in.

Kenjiro I am not. I'm only guilty of sending my family away to protect

them.

Mark What happened to Jessie? Who has taken her?

Kenjiro Michael Cragmont and Reno Raines. (Jayme stares)

Jayme Why?

Mark I thank you for that. I did not want my wife to ever see that tape.

Kenjiro She was given a copy of it. (Mark stares) I am sorry. It was done

before I understood you.

Mark Oh. So that's the favor. I will have to sit down and explain

a lot to Julie.

Kenjiro I must locate Jessie.

Mark Reno will not harm her. But it is imperative that we

find your wife and child. (Kenjiro looks at Mark.)

Kenjiro They have Kenny?

Mark No. They have Jessie. She's expecting. (Leo starts to come to. Jayme kneels beside him.)

Jayme Leo? Talk to me.

Leo It was Reno and another man.

Jayme We know. (She places her hand on the seat of the chair and takes Leo hand. Suddenly she cries out. She 'sees' Reno and Jessie in a room. They are talking. Michael enters and they smile. Leo touches her shoulder. She falls into his arms.)

Mark What did you see?

Jayme A room. Jessie. Reno and Michael are there. Reno and Jessie are

there talking.

Keniro We must find her. (Jayme and Leo stand.) Mark. I...

Mark It is I whos sorry. You trusted me with her life and I failed

to keep her safe. We will find her.

Kenjiro It is not your fault. (They exits. Act 24 Scene 2 An apartment. Jessie is sitting in a chair. Reno is across from her.)

Jessie Why are you doing this Reno?
Reno Why? He need to brought down. He's an animal. (She stands and tries to hit him. He grabs her hand and pushes her. She stumbles and falls. She hits her back on the chair. Reno stands and goes to her. She looks at him ad he grabs her wrist. He looks at her rings.)

Jessie Leave me alone.( She tries to jerk away from him but he tightens his grip. She cries out and he loosens his grip. She stands and looks at him)

Reno You don't understand. (He grabs her hand and removes her wedding rings.) He's not good enough for you. (She jerks free and starts to leave. He grabs her and jerks her arm. Her blouse rips.) Jessie, he...Jessie

Jessie You...(She exits. Act 23 Scene 5 A car. Jayme and Leo are in the backseat.Mark and Kenjiro are in the front seat. Mark looks at Kenjiro)

Kenjiro Do you think they can?
Mark She told me about what happened. All of it. (Kenjiro nods.)

Jayme Stop! (Mark pulls over and stops.) She's in this building. (Mark turns off the car. They get out and Kejiro looks at Mark.)

Kenjiro You go that way. (He points to the right.) I'll go this way. (He walks away. Mark looks at Jayme. She starts to follow him.)

Jayme I'm going with him.

Mark No. (She looks at him.)We have fought before and it was by sheer

luck that I defeated him. He doesn't need help.

Jayme He's a suspect in this case.

Mark He's not running away. He loves his wife and he out to find her. (They exit. Act 24 Scene 4 Inside the building. Kenjiro walks up some stairs. He sees Michael entering an apartment and follows him. Michael turns and stares.)

Michael He was right. You did come.

Kenjiro Where is Jessie?
Michael She's with Reno. The last time I saw her she was getting cozy with Reno.

Kenjiro She would not do that.

Michael She told Reno that he did real good getting you out of

retirement. (Kenjiro looks at him. His eyes are flashing hate. Michael suddenly cries out and crumples to the floor. Act 24 Scene 5 Another apartment. Mark, Jayme, and Leo enter the hallway. Jayme knocks on the door. Kenjiro enters and looks at Mark.Together they kick open the door. They enter and find Reno on the couch. He stares and pulls a gun. He points it at Kenjiro.)

Reno You're under arrest.

Kenjiro Where is Jessie? (He looks around. Reno stands and he gives Mark Jessie's wedding rings. Mark looks at them and then gives them to Kenjiro.) Where is my wife?

Reno She no longer wants to be your wife. You're under arrest for

the improtation of drugs.

Kenjiro I did not. (Enter Jessie. Kenjiro looks at her. Mark and Kenjiro stare at her then at the ripped blouse. Jayme stares as Jessie sees Kenjiro and her manner changes. She lowers her head. Kenjiro looks at Reno.)

Jessie, come here. (She starts to walk to him but Reno grabs her arm.)

Mark What did you do to her? (He's having a hard time controlling his temper.)

Reno Nothing. (He looks at Kenjiro) You stay away from her. You don't

have to go to him.

Jessie He is my husband.

Reno No. He's Boryokudan. You need to get away from him. (He looks at Mark.) I love her. (Jayme starts toward Reno and Mark stops her.) She

Mark Jayme, stay out of this.

He has brought shame and dishonor to Mark. (Jessie quickly looks at Mark.)

Mark Kenjiro, who was behind all this?

Kenjiro Reno Raines. (He removes the envelope and hands it to Mark.)

and if I did what Reno has done he would have the right to kill me. (He catches movement and turns. Suddenly Reno is flat on his back. Kenjiro is standing there.Mark is standing over Reno.) Kenjiro, it is my right to seek a

Mark Then I want him to go through our justice system. (He looks at Jayme.) Who gathered the evidence against Kenjiro?

Jayme He used the system for his own personal gain. (Mark walks over to her.)
Mark You stay here with Leo. Don't open your mouth or say anything.

Jessie Yes. You would never see him or the one I'm carrying. (Reno stares) It would hurt me to do so but I would do it. (He looks at Mark.)

Mark Yes.

Jessie My husband? (He looks at her.) May I speak to Reno?

Jessie Reno, I am happy. I have gotten on with my life. You must

go on with yours. I am happy. (Kenjiro puts the knife away. Kenjiro and Jessie exit. Jayme walks over as Reno stands.)

Reno Hey Mark. Thanks.

Mark Don't. (He stares) After what you have done you're lucky that I am

being civil. You're not the man I thought you were. (He walks away. Jayme takes Reno's gun off the floor. She places handcuffs on Reno. They exit. Mark and Leo exits. Act 25 Scene 1 An airport. Mark, Kenjiro, and Jessie enter.) At least he cleared you of all charges. With Jessie's deposition

he will be put away for a long time.

Kenjiro Yes. (He holds out his hand.) Thank you. (They shake.)

Mark You are welcome. (Mark looks at Jessie.) May I speak to

Jessie?
Kenjiro Yes.

Mark Jessie, thank you.

Jessie I did not...

Mark For the tape.

Jessie You are welcome. (Mark looks at Kenjiro and he nods. They hug. Kenjiro and jessie exit. Mark exits. Act 25 Scene 2 Mark's home. He enters and Julie walks out of the livingroom. They hug and kiss.)

Julie Hi.

Mark Hi. It's good to have you home.

Julie It's good to be home.

Mark You know that Kenjiro and Jessie were here.

Julie Yes.

Mark Kenjiro told me that you received a copy of the tape.

Julie Tape?

Mark Jessie got the original.

Julie Yes.

Mark I know you watched it and I want to explain.

Julie Ok.

Mark I went there thinking it was a role in a movie. I didn't know that

Kenjiro was behind it. He had them drug me. I wasn't in control.

Julie Why didn't you tell me when I first got the tape?
Mark Two reasons. The first was I didn't know you had seen it and

second I didn't want to hurt you. (She touches his face.)

Julie If I'd thought that you were really involved with that actress

I would have confronted you then left. Jessie and I talked

about it and she explained. She said that Kenjiro did it because

he was afraid that he was going to lose her.

Mark I love you.

Julie I love you. (She looks at him.) Are you alright? I heard what Reno

did.

Mark He used me. He arranged to bring in drugs and kidnapped Jessie.

He wanted to bring Kenjiro down so Jessie would leave him. He's

not the man I thought he was.

Julie People do strange things when they're in love.

Mark He pled guilty.

Julie Good.

Mark Jayme said he's going to do jail time but he did clear Kenjiro.

Julie Good. (She kisses Mark passionately.) Right now we need to

celebrate my homecoming. (They smile and exit.)
